Heller & Metzger offers Sustainable Design Consulting Services for your project. We have coordinated and integrated sustainable design requirements into architectural specifications for a wide variety of clients, including those in the federal, institutional and educational sectors. We develop and modify the specifications for Divisions 01 through 14 so that sustainable design processes and requirements are incorporated and clearly stated. Specifications play a major role in the pursuit of certification by guiding the design and construction process with sustainable design goals in mind, for everything from construction waste management strategies to the use of products with low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). The incorporation of sustainable design standards into architectural specifications does not just help define the unique approach to a project seeking LEED certification, but it serves as a guide to successfully managing a sustainable design team as well. Working with the integrated design team, owner/client, engineers, consultants and contractors, our in-house staff provides the following Sustainable Design Consulting Services:
- Sustainable Design Project Management: Providing and managing information on LEED documentation requirements; addressing any questions; and providing direction to facilitate accrual of possible LEED points, leading to building certification.
- LEED/Sustainable Design Charrettes: Facilitating a charrette at the beginning of the planning process ensures that the team's ideas are expressed and addressed, and that green building design strategies are met and responsibilities are assigned.
