The 1.2 million square feet Main Interior Building occupies two full city blocks in the heart of downtown Washington, DC. Constructed in 1936, it is a significant example of the federal WPA Moderne style, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building is being completely modernized to GSA standards, including restoration of its historic features and significant interior spaces. Special protection and conservation systems were designed for the many important WPA-era murals throughout the building.
