Dana Building, School of Natural Resources & Environment, University of Michigan
Ann Arbor, MI
Quinn Evans Architects - Ann Arbor
The Dana Building, a classroom building constructed early in the 20th century, now houses the School of Natural Resources and Environment. This project earned a Gold LEED rating, one of the first historically-listed buildings to do so.
The specifications included requirements for carpet reclamation; construction waste recycling; use of salvaged wood, and new wood from sustainably managed forestry sources; ceramic tile manufactured from recycled glass; bamboo flooring; zero-VOC paints and finishes; and a 3-story composting toilet system.
